Killeen: School district talks special education with new parents
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) Parent educators hosted an information session Tuesday evening to give new parents a look at special education in the district.
The session was inside of the Jackson Professional Learning Center.
Parents were able to learn about assessment services, transition planning and pre-school programs for children with disabilities.
Parent’s also learned about where they can go to find resources and their questions answered.
Erin Mills is one of the Special Education Parent Educators. She says they are there to help and lend a helping hand.
“Our purpose and our job is to ensure that families feel like they are set up for success at home and in a school setting,” Mills said.
Navigating through the website was also o the agenda. A list of parent workshops was available for parents who might need to attend one of them.
The district encourages anyone who has questions regarding special education to visit the parent resource room located at the Jackson Professional Learning Center.
